Opening of the exhibitions "Sepp Forcher - Between Words and Peaks" and "Faces of the Grossglockner" as well as the unique "Grossglockner Cinema"
Article from 04.07.2024Visitors to the visitor centre on the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe can now look forward to three very special new features: the exhibitions "Sepp Forcher - Between Words and Peaks" and "Chronology of Memories - Faces of the Großglockner" as well as the new Großglockner Cinema with a focus on Sepp Forcher and the Großglockner were officially opened today in the presence of numerous guests of honour.
Sepp Forcher passed away on 19 December 2021. He was not only a favourite with the public and an Austrian television and folk culture icon, but was also closely associated with the Grossglockner and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road throughout his life. The new permanent exhibition "Sepp Forcher - Between Words and Peaks" sheds light on the many, sometimes lesser-known aspects of the Austrian legend's life. Johannes HÖRL, GROHAG CEO, welcomed guests, friends and companions of Helli and Sepp Forcher at the opening of the new exhibitions in the visitor centre on the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe and emphasised Forcher's long association with the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and Austria's highest mountain: "It will soon be another three years since Sepp Forcher left us. So we think of him all the more today: the porter. The mountain hut landlord. The television icon. The alpinist. The friend and philanthropist. And to the connector who always emphasised that the Grossglockner was the mountain of his life and that the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, which connects Salzburg and Carinthia in equal measure, was the most beautiful road in the world for him. This subtle and sensitive exhibition about the unknown side of Sepp Forcher and his Helli is a sign of our inseparable bond."
