A Journey of Discovery along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is one of the most spectacular panoramic roads in Europe. Stretching across 48 kilometres with 36 bends, it leads deep into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Along the route, twelve themed exhibitions invite visitors to explore the alpine world and its many natural and cultural treasures.

Visitor Centre Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe
Open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, the Visitor Centre at Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe covers 1,500 m² and features a wide range of exhibitions on nature, mountains, glaciers, automotive history and more. New highlights include the exhibitions "Sepp Forcher – Between Words and Summits" and "Chronology of Memories – Faces of the Grossglockner". A special highlight is the GROSSGLOCKNERCINEMA with breathtaking film footage of the high alpine world.

Wilhelm Swarovski Observatory
Just above the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe lies the Wilhelm Swarovski Observatory. Here, visitors can use powerful telescopes to observe ibex and marmots in their natural habitat. The observatory is open daily from 10.00 to 16.00.

“Building the Road” Exhibition at Fuscher Lacke
Located in the “Wegmacherhaus” at Fuscher Lacke, this exhibition gives fascinating insights into the construction of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. It documents the vision and engineering behind this mountain route and is open daily from 9.00 to 17.00.
