The "Durchstich" on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road was successful. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road, the largest national monument and one of the most important sights in Austria, will therefore be open to traffic from 27 April 2024.

The roads to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe and Edelweiss-Spitze are also open again. However, the ascent to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe is only possible until 15:30.

Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße / Heiligenblut am Großglockner: The annual breakthrough at the Hochtor, the pass summit (2,504m) of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and the national border between Carinthia and Salzburg, was preceded this year by a veritable rollercoaster of weather conditions: First summery temperatures in the lowlands - then snowfall in the valley and even more in the high mountains. Despite everything, the snow clearing teams from the north and south were able to cope with the amount of snow in their usual professional manner and work their way to the 'breakthrough' at the Hochtor - symbolising the start of the summer season for tourism in Austria. This year, not only the snow clearing teams from Carinthia and Salzburg, but also the tourism experts Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger, Managing Director of Österreich Werbung and the Managing Directors Leo Bauernberger (SalzburgerLand Tourismus) and Klaus Ehrenbrandtner (Kärnten Werbung) met up with the 'GROHAGlers' between the walls of snow.
