Natural experience, minus obstacles & barriers
It is hugely important to Grossglockner Hochalpenstrassen AG - the operating company for the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and other panoramic roads in Austria – to ensure that all their offers and facilities, whether it is on site along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, or online, have as few barriers as possible, so everyone gets to experience the natural surroundings independently.
Barrier-free facilities along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is very well suited as an excursion destination for people who have restricted mobility. After all, almost all the viewing points, parking areas and rest points are accessible in a vehicle, enabling barrier-free contact with nature. At individual exhibits there may be several steps to negotiate, which may be in upper floors. We have provided an overview here with information about which exhibits, restaurants and facilities are barrier-free:

- Haus Alpine Naturschau (natur exhibition): lower floor – contemporary museum about ecology in the high mountains
- Hochtor: ground floor – ‘Passheiligtum Hochtor’ exhibit
Barrier-free WC facilities
- Ferleiten pay desk
- Haus Alpine Naturschau – wheel-chair accessible WC on the basement floor

- Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe (next to the visitor centre)
Barrier-free accessible restaurants and bistros
