Glockner-Öko-Fonds: For the protection of our environment One fundamental milestone on the way to protecting and preserving the unique natural habitat along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road was the setting up of the ‘Glockner eco funds’ in 1993.
Actively using science to protect the environment
With an annual funding amount of 10,000 Euros, the Glockner Eco Funds support nature and environmental protection projects, as well as ecological research work in relation to the Hohe Tauern National Park region - in the area around the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in particular. The aim of the Glockner Eco Funds is to support research work for which adequate means is difficult to access outside of the main national and international research funding – work which is often carried out by young researchers.
‘25 years of Glockner Eco Funds’ brochure
In 2018, to mark the 25 year anniversary of the Glockner Eco Funds, research projects from past years were presented. From examining the influence of human factors on the unspoilt natural high mountains, to research about the ‘Eternal ice’ of the Pasterze. Read about all this and much more in the brochure, ‘25 years of Glockner Eco Funds’. (German only)
