09. July 2026The 2nd stage of the Tour of Austria, the “Glockner Stage”, will take place on 9 July 2026 on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with the stage finish at the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe (2,369m).
The cyclists will finish at Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe about 15:30.
Please note the road closures when planning your trip along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
On 9th July 2026, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road will take centre stage in the world of international cycling: the 75th Tour of Austria will take riders on its queen stage from Bad Kleinkirchheim to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe. After around 188 kilometres and a climb of almost 2,900 metres, the riders will face the challenging final ascent via Heiligenblut up to the Großglockner.
Traffic information:
On 9th July 2026, the Tour of Austria will stop off on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The queen stage runs from Bad Kleinkirchheim to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe at 2,369 m.
The last ascent from Heiligenblut and passage through the Guttal roundabout are expected to be possible until 14:15.
From the Salzburg side via Ferleiten, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road remains open to traffic without restrictions. From around 14:15 the access road to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe and the Guttel roundabout towards Heiligenblut will be closed.
The last departure from the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe must be by 13:00. Access to and from the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe is expected to be possible again from around 16:30.
The cyclists will finish on Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe at about 15:30.
Information for buses:
You must leave the bus car park Hoher Sattel at the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe (after the gallery) by 13:00 at the latest!
