The Grossglockner High Alpine Road would like to make travellers an offer to use the Grossglockner High Alpine Road as an exciting alternative route with a special price during the A10 tunnel renovation (one lane only).
This route applies …
… only the day you are due to arrive and depart
… only when your accommodation booking is confirmed in neighbouring regions in Carinthia, East Tyrol and Salzburg
… not in July and August (details below), only during periods when the A10 tunnel is being upgraded and is down to single lane traffic.
 

Outline of the A10 alternative route

Due to tunnel refurbishment work on the A10 Tauernautobahn, during periods the A10 is down to single lane traffic, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is available at a special discounted rate  (€ 33.00 for cars instead of € 43.00 and € 26.50 for motorcycles instead of € 33.00), as an experience-rich and congestion-free alternative variant for your route to enjoy your holiday in Carinthia, East Tyrol or Salzburg (proof of accommodation confirmation required).


When does the special rate apply?
Only during the time the A10 is down to single lane traffic! The promotion does NOT apply in July, August and until the start of September, when there is break in motorway construction work and the motorway returns to two lanes.

Who can avail of the special rate for the Grossglockner High Alpine Road?
Discounted rates for a congestion-free arrival or departure via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road apply to all guests who are enjoying a holiday stay in accommodation in Salzburg, Carinthia or East Tyrol.

Is it enough to present a booking confirmation from my accommodation provider at the pay desk?
Yes, an e-mail – printed out or digital – with details of the booking period and the name of the accommodation provider in Carinthia, Salzburg and East Tyrol, is all you need.

Does the discounted rate of € 33 (instead of € 43 for cars) or € 26.50 (instead of € 33 for motorbikes) apply the arrival day, or to the departure day?
The discounted tariffs apply either to your arrival day or departure day. Anyone arriving via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road can enjoy discounted return travel for € 16.

Is a discounted second journey also available?
Yes, a discounted second ticket is available too – as long as a day ticket has already been purchased in the same calendar year (linked to your registration number; present ticket from your first journey).

Is a discount available for a 3-week ticket?
There is no discount for a 3-week ticket.

Might there be an additional charge on the discounted day ticket (€ 33 car/ € 26.50 motorbike) on the 3-week ticket, even after arrival?
An additional charge on the 3-week ticket is possible within 3 days (at the pay desk).

Are guests who have purchased a ticket online at a higher price, reimbursed the additional costs?
Yes, guests who have purchased a higher priced ticket online in advance, will be refunded the difference at the pay desk, as per the respective/above-mentioned conditions.

Is the discounted tariff also available for caravan trailers?
No, this offer does not apply to caravan trailers. The alternative route via the Grossglockner is not suitable for caravan trailers and is expressly unadvisable.
